Monforton School Foundation is happy to share that the following grant awards were approved this month:
Experiential Learning Awards
$215.65 to supplement the bus fees for the second grade classes to visit the Amaltheia dairy goat farm to learn about caring for goats and the goat milking process, followed by a visit to Story Mill Park.
$560 for bus fees to take the fourth grade classes to Farm Fair. Farm Fair is an event in which students are given the opportunity to visit a working farm and gain hands on experience with the animals and processes of the ranch in order to learn about Montana’s agriculture, soil and plant sciences and environmental topics.
$300.40 for bus fees for the first grade classes to hike Drinking Horse Mountain and visit the dinosaur park. These experiences will allow students to practice teamwork, leadership, communication and adaptability skills. Students will also observe local plants, insects, animals, waterways and geography.
$695 for materials for the fifth grade students to create tie-dye t-shirts and enjoy a pizza party together to celebrate relationships and solidify the importance of teamwork as students move into middle school. This will follow up on a 5 week unit on chemistry, students will mix colors to create their own tie-dye shirts.

Minor Grant Awards
$350 to purchase snacks for the Monforton summer school program which serves kindergarten through fifth grade students for the first month of the summer. Funds will also be used for a pizza party at the end of the program.
$350 for materials and dessert for the 5th Grade Moving Up Ceremony. There will be a reflections celebration which will include a slideshow of K-5 memories and a farewell presentation from grade level teachers and other elementary staff. This will be followed up by the students heading up to the middle school while being cheered on by families lining the steps and finishing with an ice cream and popsicle celebration in the middle school.
$86.82 for the kindergarten team to purchase caterpillar to butterfly kits for their lifecycle unit.
