Organized by Monforton Moves
A committee of the Monforton School Foundation
Overview
Celebrate the change of the season by joining Monforton families in walking/biking/rolling to school as part of the National Walk and Bike to School day.
Bike/Walk to School Day raises awareness of the need to create safer routes for bicycling and walking and emphasize the importance of issues such as increasing physical activity among students and parents, pedestrian safety, reducing traffic congestion and concern for the environment.
Additional Bike Train Locations
If parents are interested in organizing additional Bike Train meeting locations, please contact Monforton Moves. A viable location needs at least ~4 adults willing to ride both to school in the morning, and back to the meeting location in the afternoon.
How it Works
All Monforton families have options to participate. Join one of the organized groups, or simply walk/bike/roll on your own.
Walking Distance
Those that live within walking distance of Monforton can either arrive on their own, or join the Walking School Bus groups.
Bus Riders
The Monforton School buses will drop students off at designated drop zones in the Middle Creek Neighborhood. Adult volunteers will escort students from the drop zones to the Monforton schools along the neighborhood trails and sidewalks.
Biking Distance
Two “Bike Trains” have been organized to escort students to Monforton with the benefit of adult supervision. One group leaves from the neighborhoods behind Simms, and a new one from the Spanish Meadows neighborhood north of the school.
Walking School Bus Details
The Walking School Bus option provides a way for our bus riders to participate. Buses will drop students off at the drop zone and students will walk with parent chaperones to Monforton.
Important:The Walking School Bus is only operating for school drop-off. Bused students will ride the buses home as normal.
Meeting Location
This group will meet the Green Space off of Merit Road in the Middle Creek Neighborhood. The walking route follow the Middle Creek neighborhood trails and sidewalks to the school campus. Total length of this route is between 0.4 and 0.5 miles.
Departure Time: ~8:00 AM
Note: this is NOT the green space adjacent to the playground. It is the next green space to the east past Arrow Trail
Bike Train Details
Biking groups (Bike Trains) are a great option for families that live beyond walking distance from Monforton. Parents may drop their students off at one of the meeting locations, OR may join the group for the ride. The Bike Train will escort students both to school and back at the end of the school day. Be prepared to meet your students at the drop-off locations at the end of the day.

- Must have your own bike
- Helmets are required (adults too)
