Monforton School Foundation is happy to share that the following grant awards were approved this month:
District Grants
A new type of grant called a District Grant has been designated. District grants are grants with no monetary ceiling and that allow the foundation to serve as a pass through for specifically designated private donations. District Grants require approval by the Monforton administration.
District Grant
A private $90,000 donation has been accepted to fund an improved school security system. The new system will create a secure entry to most hallways in the school, allow the school to control access to these areas and allow law enforcement quick access to any area in case of an emergency.
Experiential Learning Awards
$280 to fund bus fees for the fourth grade classes to attend the MSU Women’s Basketball School Day game. At this event the students will get to enjoy a collegiate basketball game, see sportsmanship demonstrated by teams and fans and participate in good sportsmanship.
$453.19 to fund bus fees for Mr. Bechard’s third grade classroom to visit the Ennis Fish Hatchery to learn about the lifecycle of trout. They will also pick up trout eggs to start their “Trout in the Classroom” activity that will last the rest of the school year.
$250 to fund bus fees for the fifth grade classes to see an Opera presentation by the Bozeman Opera who is preparing for Cinderella. The students will learn about operate and theater etiquette.
$754.50 for the first grade students bus fees to travel to a local working farm. The students will see farm animals, apples being grown and pressed, and other types of local produce being grown for sale to the community. At this field trip students will gain a better understanding of the lifecycles of plants and animals.
Major & Minor Grant Awards
Major Grant Awards
$837.61 award as a major grant to complete funds for the middle school to get remote control kits for the Robotics exploratory class. Students will learn to code and will use engineering skills to build different bots and accessories. They will then write and modify codes for the bots. The class is in high demand among middle school students and the materials will be reused year after year.
Minor Grant Awards
There were no minor grant requests this month.
