December Grant Awards

Monforton School Foundation is happy to share that the following grant awards were approved this month:

Experiential Learning Awards

$146.50 to fund bus fees for the second grade classes to visit the Museum of the Rockies to learn about different categories of dinosaurs and the process of fossilization. Students will enjoy a planetarium show about dinosaurs and their evolution and extinction. Students will also take a guided tour of the Siebel Dinosaur Complex

Major and Minor Grant Awards

Minor Grants

$332.00 to purchase yarn for the 7th and 8th grade students to use in their knitting exploratory class. As their final project, students will use this yarn to knit hats for premature infants and for cancer patients. Students will develop the skill of knitting and feel the positive impact made on their community.

$99.80 for the purchase of sensory supportive materials for K-3 special education students. These materials are called sensory chewies and they have been shown to improve focus, support emotional regulation and reduce anxiety.

$99.99 for the purchase of a vibration plate to be used in the special education department. Vibration plates can be used to start the day off strong or for a short break in the day for those students who benefit from using the board. The board provides whole-body vibration to help with awareness, focus and emotional regulation. Students have trialed this device with an occupational therapist at Monforton and have had great success with it, so the special education department seeks to purchase its own plate.

Major Grant Awards

$3,261.70 were awarded for bus fees to transport K-8 students to Bridger Bowl for their Health Enhancement Ski Day
